Guitarist Link Wrap born 1929, Singer / Songwriter Leslie Gore born 1946; Rumble.
A while back, I ran into someone who virtually sat out 1977 – 1982; doesn’t matter why, but this person didn’t hear much of anything during these years. I only wanted to pick one album by an artist, too. The sole exception to this rule today is for The Damned, as both the debut and 3rd album were real favorites of mine. The idea was to suggest a set of records that would get you up to speed in my universe. These artists are all conditionally recommended – start with these records!

Oooof!!! That’s quite a potent list as you’ve hit me where I dwell. In fact, just last night I was recording a loose ACR track [“Wild Party”] for kicks, maaaaan. Why do anything? I have 35 of those and want practically all of the rest! It’s almost a crime that some of those titles have never resided in my Record Cell. I am shamed by their absence!
Anything on this list that you don’t know what it is, Jim-san? Or do you have it all covered? You already own 35 of these titles? I’m impressed!
Here are the two that don’t even ring bells:
HUGH HOPPER
TOY LOVE
I’ve seen 9 of those acts live. 10 if you count Link Wray.
Whenever you’re ready to listen, Hugh Hopper was Soft Machine’s bass player; amazing solo albums made with Dave Stewart of Egg (and Gaskin & Stewart fame); Toy Love was an NZ punk / new wave band with Chris Knox (of Tall Dwarfs) – the seminal NZ new wave albums.
Righteouslist!!!!
Hello, six years later to Bob Gaulke! In an ironic twist, At Rockaway Records, I purchased what must have been Ron’s copy of Zaine Griff’s “Figvres” on NZ CD! I now have 39 of these titles.Still need more.
